Yep, it’s been fifty years since The Pill gave us the chance to have irresponsible and consequence free sex.  Well, unless you consider STDs a consequence.  In that case, sorry, got a ways to go. The Onion points out some of the obvious benefits womeen have reaped thanks to the greatest invention of all time:

THE PILL TURNS 50

The Pill Turns Fifty (Woo and hoo!)

The Pill Turns Fifty (Woo and hoo!)

It's sexy time

Sigh…

“BEAUTY AND THE BANKERS IS BACK

A heady cocktail of finance and fashion finds a new home at RED Bar + Restaurant & RED SoHo

Now that the economy has turned a healthy corner, social networking event Beauty and the Bankers returns to unite financiers and fashionistas over a cocktail of scintillating chat.

The tongue-in-cheek dating event will give swanky bankers and gorgeous trendsetters two chances to get to know each other. The first will be held at RED Bar + Restaurant in Two ifc on 10 March 2010. Your second date and the next chance to meet Mr. or Ms. Right will be at RED SoHo on 17 March 2010.

Mingling is the name of the game, and free-flow Champagne will be laid on by Mumms Champagne from 7-8pm to get conversations bubbling. During the same hour, beer fans can indulge with complimentary brew courtesy of Stella Artois.

Be sure to get there early – goody bags filled with promotions and treats will be given to the first 100 people through RED’s doors. Fabulous prizes from the Four Seasons Hotel have also been provided for the prize draw, which will take place on both evenings.

Laura Derry, Director of PR agency PR IME and organizer of Beauty & the Bankers, said: “Hong Kong is a hard place to date. People work silly hours and generally mix in their own groups of friends. We hope that Beauty & the Bankers gives people an opportunity to meet some people and stir things up a bit.”

Oh Hong Kong, you’re so endearingly consistent and predictable.
